Since January 1st, 2024, shipping lines report their emissions and purchase an equivalent amount of allowances on the EU ETS market. A surcharge is applicable following this new regulation for all goods loaded on EAGLE services.
The new Fuel EU regulation requires maritime companies to gradually increase the use of renewable fuels, thereby decreasing their environmental impact. The costs associated with complying with this legislation (+3.50€/teu dry in 2025) is now included in our ETS.
As of 01/03/2025, the ETS Surcharge amounts, revisable each month, will be as follow :
The EU ETS is calculated monthly using the market value of carbon (average of the month m-2), if this difference is greater than $4.
